At The Mercy Of

As the title suggests I am at the MERCY of .... Bank of America. They are forcing me out of my home.

Here is a brief bit of the story. I am an employee of Bank of America. They also hold my mortgage. I have been trying to modify my mortgage for almost THREE YEARS. Yes, you are reading that correctly. THREE YEARS. It has been through underwriting and approved eight or nine time. Then they request updated documents which I promptly send them and they start the whole process ALL OVER AGAIN.

No, I am not kidding.

We have had some issues also with them canceling the process for things that were not my fault and I have the documentation to prove it. It went something like this.

They asked for paperwork by the 18th of the month. I send it overnight mail with a return receipt requested. They received it on the 15th of the month. Three days before the date they wanted it. On the 16th, which is two days before they wanted it I received a letter telling me they did not receive the documents by the date they requested and they were denying the modification request because of it. I called them and they told me I had to put in an appeal. Yes, I had to put in an appeal because they screwed up. I put in the appeal, they overturned the cancellation of the process and started the whole process all over yet again.

There is more to this story and if you have read this .... Thank you!

OK, back in February I went on Short Term Disability. The disability for Bank of America is issued through Aetna. Initially they denied the claim. Then they approved it at the end of March and gave me what I was due from the date the disability started to the date they approved it.

Then they denied it again. I didn't jump high enough through the hoop that they were holding. I was told I had to put in an appeal which I did. I finally made it through that hoop they were holding and they put it through an independent review. This review was approved and the appeal was supposedly overturned. Next, I received a letter telling me they wanted the money back that they had given me.

It is still in review. I have not received a check since March and they want that back. My mortgage just went 90 days behind because Aetna refuses to pay me for my disability despite my having jumped through every hoop they provided. They have documentation from as recent as yesterday and when my doctor extended the disability again. Now, Bank of America says the modification is dead in the water because I don't have an income. I don't have an income because Bank of America and Aetna.

I just read that Bank of America is GIVING away 100 foreclosed homes. I wonder how many of those people were forced out by Bank of America and I wonder if my home is on the list of homes to be given away.
